For example, if gasoline determines whether a car can run, lubricating oil determines how long it can run. Without good lubrication, the life of a car will be greatly reduced. Lubricating oil is an oily liquid coated on the surface of moving parts such as machine bearings. It has the functions of reducing friction, avoiding fever, preventing machine wear and medical use.
Distribution and function of lubricating oil in vehicles
1, the engine (oil) is the same as lubricating oil, engine oil (referred to as oil) lubrication conditions are harsh.
First of all, the engine is the source of power and the load on the friction surface is very large. Secondly, the temperature of the friction surface is high, the viscosity of lubricating oil is easy to decline, and it is difficult to form an oil film. Then, high temperature and high pressure combustion gas will leak into the crankcase through the clearance, contaminating the lubricating oil and speeding up oxidation. In addition, the working temperature difference is large, the parts will thermal expansion and thermal deformation, and the oil film is difficult to adhere to the changing gap. After that, the engine has a lot of moving parts, and one oil has to do all the lubrication. Therefore, never ignore the regular replacement of oil, according to the different oil quality and environment, the replacement cycle is generally 5000~15000km, in accordance with the vehicle manual (remember, the manual is more official than the 4S shop). Remember to replace the oil filter as well!
2, transmission (gear oil) whether manual transmission, or automatic transmission, lubricating oil is also an essential partner for their healthy work. Unlike oil, automatic transmission have different technical requirements, even the same type transmission configuration in different models, the torque, weight, speed, structure, etc are different, so the original factory has its own special designated gearbox oil, try not to change the brand, type without permission, especially in the automatic transmission. Among them, automatic transmission oil is not only the transmission oil of hydraulic torque converter, but also the lubricating oil of planetary gear structure and the hydraulic oil of shift device. In other words, it is used to transmit engine power, lubrication and hydraulic functions, so the working environment is also very demanding. The automatic transmission oil is generally replaced every 60 to 100 thousand kilometers or every 2 to 4 years, and it is also in accordance with the requirements of the manual. Now some models of transmission oil is maintenance-free, convenient a lot. Manual transmission oil is simpler and less expensive, and the replacement cycle is about the same as automatic transmission. Of course, if you're driving a race car, that's a different story.
3, differential (gear oil) if the engine and transmission oil we are familiar with, then the differential oil is a lot stranger. In fact, after passing through the gearbox, but before reaching the wheels, the power passes through a set of gears called the differential, and four-wheel-drive cars also have a central differential. It plays a role in power transmission and the realization of the two ends of the output shaft different speed. Different from transmission oil, the differential oil of most cars is maintenance-free. However, some rear-drive vehicles and SUVs need to be replaced regularly. Replacement cycles are usually the same as transmission lubricants, though some SUVs, such as Toyota's Prado and Landcruze, need to be replaced immediately after long wading.
4. Door shaft, skylight track, etc. (grease) In fact, all moving parts are inseparable from smoothness, such as the door that needs to be switched every time, the skylight on the top of the head, and the seat under the body. However, they are lubricated by thicker greases. You usually don't need to worry about it, the car comes out of the factory painted, but they can wear out over time. The first thing you need to do when a car door opens or closes, the sunroof slides or you adjust the seat to make a noise is to increase lubrication. Just rub some vaseline on yourself, and that usually solves the problem.
