Using additive, it can be used to enhance or supplement the function of smooth oil, such as cleaning, maintenance and repair effect.

2. Variety of additive

Increase agent according to the function of the main antioxidant, antiwear agent, conflict improver (also called oil agent), extreme pressure increase agent, detergent, dispersant, foam inhibitor, anti-corrosion and anti-rust agent, flow point improver, viscosity index enhancement agent and other types. The increase agent sold in the market is generally the compound of the above single increase agent, the difference is that the composition of a single increase agent is different and the proportion of several single increase agent inside the compound is different.

Now there are many additives that claim to improve the maintenance function of oil in the market, and different brands promote different effect mechanisms. The following is a brief introduction of several varieties:

(1) Graphite and molybdenum disulfide solid suspension type have the primary effect of friction reduction and anti-wear, but they can only be applied to smooth solid and low-speed heavy load equipment. When the engine revolution exceeds 1000r/min, they have no effect. In addition, its condition in smooth oil is not stable, in a certain time and temperature conditions will occur a phenomenon. Its separation will constitute the blockage of the oil route and accelerate the formation of sludge.

(2) Teflon resin particles as antiwear agent has been widely used in the United States, but because it will be deposited at low temperature in the oil channel, oil pump set filter block, and deposition in the piston ring groove to lose its activity, and accelerate the composition of sludge, now the United States is rarely recommended.

(3) the coating class containing copper, lead and other heavy metal particles can form a layer of metal film on the surface of the conflict, anti-wear and anti-extreme pressure effect, but it is necessary to use the oil filter with slightly larger aperture of the filter element, otherwise it will be filtered out, blocking the oil pump and oil route. Moreover, long-term use of it will form a membrane on the surface of the piston and cylinder body, forming the bond between the two, easy to show the phenomenon of sticky ring.

(4) magnetic oil is a kind of outer metal magnetizing agent, the first antifriction, antiwear effect. This kind of product useful effect time is too short, need to increase continuously, the cost is high, and will interfere with the normal operation of the electronic components on the car.

(5) Chlorine-containing "chlorine" is an excellent extreme pressure agent, but it is not suitable for the high temperature and high speed operating environment of the engine, and will attack acid under suitable conditions, which is potentially dangerous to the metal in the engine. In addition, chlorine additives may have matching problems with the existing additives in smooth oil, causing other side effects.

(6) lead-free, fluorine-free and chlorine-free chemical film forming agents can show extreme pressure resistance, oxidation resistance and certain wear resistance. Because of its long lasting effect on the chemical reaction film formed on the metal surface, it can be used to extend smooth oil and metal parts life.
