What is car oil

Automotive lubricants are liquid or semi-solid lubricants used in various types of vehicles to reduce friction, protect machinery and workpiece, mainly for lubrication, auxiliary cooling, rust prevention, cleaning, sealing and buffering. The engine is the heart of the car. There are many metal surfaces in the engine that rub against each other. These parts move fast and in poor environment, and the working temperature can reach 400°C to 600°C. At present, the oil on the market can be simply divided into mineral oil and synthetic oil because of the different base oil. Synthetic oil is divided into: total and semi-synthetic. Synthetic oils are high grade. Mineral oil relative to synthetic oil, when the strength of base oil is weak, it needs to use a larger viscosity relative to synthetic oil to meet the lubrication requirements of high load.

What is semi-synthetic oil

Semi synthetic engine oil is the international three kinds of base oil and lubricating oil, is on the basis of the mineral oil after purification of hydrogenation technology of fission products, it is made of mineral oil, synthetic engine oil with mixture of 4:6 relationship, the purity of semi synthetic oil is very close to the synthetic oil, but its cost is mineral oil slightly tall, mineral oil is to make the transition to the ideal of synthetic oil products.

What are synthetic lubricants

Snthetic oils are chemical compounds that contain additives and are used as lubricants. They include synthetic esters, polyα -olefin (PAO), polyether oils, etc., which are different in composition from petroleum hydrocarbon oils. Semi-synthetic oils refer to lubricants made by mixing synthetic and mineral oils in proportion.

Synthetic oil with the use of performance, can satisfy the general mineral oil to meet the requirements, such as can be used for high temperature, low temperature, vacuum and radiation, flameproof and other environmental conditions, and contact with rubber and plastic components are occasions, especially in military industry, aerospace, atomic energy and other fields of cutting-edge technology, synthetic oil become indispensable lubricants.

Advantages of synthetic lubricants over mineral oils

1, good low temperature performance synthetic oil freezing point is generally lower than -40 deG C, double ester can work below -60 deG C, ethylene diester can work normally at -70 DEG C.

2, good high temperature performance because of the molecular structure of synthetic oil is more tidy, evaporation loss is small and has good thermal stability and oxidation stability, suitable for working at high temperature. Such as synthetic hydrocarbon, ester oil, silicone oil can be in 175 ~ 230℃, 175 ~ 190℃, 220 ~ 275℃ long-term work.

3, good viscosity temperature characteristics of most synthetic oil viscosity index is higher, above 145, and at low temperature viscosity but high, high temperature viscosity but low, so adapt to a wide range of temperature, such as silicone oil can work in -60 ~ 275℃ for a long time.

4, good flame resistance many synthetic oil flame resistance, such as water a glycol liquid spontaneous combustion point of 650℃, phosphate ester up to 700℃, perfluoroether in pure oxygen does not burn.

5 Good chemical stability Some synthetic oil has better thermal stability, oxidation stability and hydrolysis stability than mineral oil, total fluoride oil and strong acid, strong base, etc. Alkyl benzene radiation resistance is good, can resist a variety of radiation exposure.

Due to the expensive material source of synthetic oil, complex synthetic process, high investment, and the wear resistance and lubricity of synthetic oil are better than mineral oil, it has higher application value, so the cost price of synthetic oil and semi-synthetic oil is much higher than mineral oil.
